[column]After several months of strenuous preparations, since the end of April 2014 we have started the actual implementation “major maintenance Boogbrug Beek”, followed by “major maintenance on the Scharberg Bridge in Elsloo” a project with a contract sum of five million euros.
In three phases, completely dense scaffolding will be built under the bridge. We outsourced the execution of the scaffolding work to Brand Energy Infrastructure Services B.V.
We are going to grit blast a 9,000 m2 area to cleanliness grade Sa2½, then apply a 3-layer paint system from International Paint.[/column]
[column]The biggest challenges with this project are limiting disruption and the implementation part that is above ProRail’s tracks.
Once again, Van der Ende is taking on an unprecedented challenge by gritblasting and applying a 3-layer paint system to a 2,400 m2 Sa2½ surface in week 34 in a time frame of 144 hours. On paper, this seemed an impossible task, as there is only 24 hours (out of service) to build a complete scaffold over operating tracks.[/column]
[column]The dismantling of the scaffolding should take place in 16 hours, leaving 104 for the actual execution. After numerous discussions and design studies, we gave the green light for the meticulous operation. In doing so, we are pulling out all the stops to make this phase a success.[/column]
