It looks like Bulgarian artist Christo has been working on one of his art projects here, nothing could be further from the truth.
The real reason for wrapping our new building this way is to shield the masonry from the weather, to prevent the masonry from turning white. Regularly you see beautiful new buildings, whose facades show all kinds of unwanted white discoloration after some time.
Once it has occurred, it is an irreversible process. It occurs due to insufficient shielding (quality assurance) during the masonry and grouting process. Under the influence of moisture, a chemical process occurs in the fresh masonry, causing the rash of salts to become noticeable as white spots. Critical as we are, we are committed to preventing this. That is why the masonry facades are completely encased. The construction of our new building is progressing steadily, with completion scheduled for February 2007.
