During an informal meeting with the management of BP Refinaderij Rotterdam B.V., Van der Ende received a certificate from Peter Dijkgraaf (Maintenance Manager) for working 15 years without accidents.
In those 15 years, some 850,000 man hours have been made and many hundreds of thousands of square meters have been pretreated and provided with a new coating system. Work that is often high risk and where attention to safety is crucial.
Managing Director of BP Raffinaderij Rotterdam B.V., Thys Heyns, who was unable to attend the presentation of the certificate due to commitments abroad, announced in a letter that Van der Ende had delivered an “outstanding performance”. An achievement that certainly did not come about by luck, but through good employment practices, good safety management and high-quality work preparation.
This achievement even prompted BP to make a so-called anouncement on the global BP web.
Fine words, of course, but BP itself has also made an important contribution to achieving this result. BP’s safety policy has inspired contractors like Van der Ende to keep improving the safety management system. Moreover, they have recognized the importance of a long-term relationship, which has given us the opportunity to invest in the company and the quality of people and resources.
