In September 2015, we started major maintenance on the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier: grit blasting and preservation of 32 sliders. The goal for 2016 was: to deliver 4 sliders.

And that 2016 goal was met: 4 sliders out of 32 were completed and delivered! Even before the start of the storm season that begins each year on Oct. 1. An impressive feat. Because despite the summer of 2016 going into the books as one of the best summers, we experienced it differently at the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier. Several times we had to face heavy waves that seriously disrupted the production schedule. Thanks to the tremendous effort and flexibility of our execution, we were able to achieve our objective.
