At the end of October, the last of the 8 newly constructed tanks on the Europoort Tank Terminals site was completed. In a total of 8 months, over 42,500 square meters externally and 17,500 square meters internally were coated.
Due to the high chloride content in the new steel, the tanks first had to be pre-blasted internally and then misted with demin water before finally being blasted again to Sa 2.5. After this, the tank coating suitable for biodiesel was applied.
The extra work and the tight deadline posed no problem thanks to the use of extra manpower and equipment, so the project was delivered on time nicely. The terminal is now ready for storage under the (bio)fuels and fuel oil.
