We were commissioned to perform major maintenance on a Wielgraver 4 of EMO (European Mass Goods – Transshipment Company) Maasvlakte. The Wheel Graver 4 is a gigantic machine.
Maintenance begins by scaffolding the machine, shielding it from the environment and ensuring safe accessibility. Then pre-treatment by grit blasting begins. After this, a new 4-layer paint system is applied.
We have limited time, which makes this project extra challenging. The machine is an important production tool for EMO, so downtime costs money. After thorough preliminary research, we were out: it is possible to complete the total maintenance process in the extremely short period of about six weeks. We will start work in mid-August.
