Last September, we started pillar maintenance: preserving 65 pillars of the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier. The pillars are an essential part of the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier. The 65 pillars on the barrier provide the actual control of the slides.
Unique construction especially for pillar maintenance
In order to work weather-independent, the OSK Conseverings Group has designed a brilliant shielding construction. This unique construction is reused for each pillar. Moving the construction from pillar to pillar, takes about four working days. We have the pillar maintenance under contract until 2035.
