We’ve already mentioned it briefly, one of our showpieces: the intensive refurbishment of Amsterdam’s monumental central station. Preserving 80,000 m². The canopy of the Zuidhal has been made accessible with a rolling scaffold. And the canopy is completely shielded so that travelers and the trains parked below are not inconvenienced. An impressive sight.
Result South Hall is beautiful!
Some parts of the station’s South Hall have already been completed and the result is beautiful! If you look up you can see the difference: fresh, freshly painted roof sections next to black, blistered steel sections. The refurbishment of the South Hall will continue until mid-2017. In January, we will begin preserving the steel and woodwork on the North Hall. Following the intensive refurbishment of the wood and steel of both halls, we are also replacing 50,000 sq. ft. of bird netting.
Travelers not inconvenienced during refurbishment
Every day about sixteen painters work very intensively. All steel and wood structures are being taken care of throughout the central station. Because the work area is well protected, the enormous amount of travelers that Amsterdam CS has every day are not affected by the work at all. Handsome work again!
In mid-2018, the central station will be completed like new again with paintwork that will last 20 years.
