It was an exciting time for Van der Ende; competing in a tender based on Best Value Procurement is no mean feat. And the result was a success: VOF Van der Ende Infrastructure was chosen together with Edilon Sedra Contracting as the contractor combination for the Wilhelmina Bridge project. A very extensive project with a tight time schedule.
What is Best Value Procurement?
Best Value Procurement (BVP) is another way of tendering. In this procedure, contractors must prove that they offer the most value for a project – within budget and on the set goals. The criterion of the contractor combination: experience from previous projects where good references are decisive. This is how the real experts stand out. V.O.F Van der Ende and Edilon Sedra came out on top for the Best Value Project Wilhelmina Bridge. This project has a total value of 6.6 million euros.
Wilhelmina Bridge in Deventer
The Wilhelmina Bridge was built between 1939 and 1943, but was blown up by the German occupation army in April 1945. After liberation, the bridge was rebuilt according to its original design and reopened in 1948. The bridge served for 68 years as an important link across the river IJssel. Now the bridge is part of the Large Variable Maintenance (GVO) program of the Department of Public Works.
We expect to begin maintenance work in mid-June. Completion is scheduled for the end of December 2016. The emphasis in the project is on quality and minimum traffic disruption.
