ProRail has awarded the contract for the renovation of the platform canopy at Zaandam station to Van der Ende Infrastructure. The preservation work, consisting of pre-treating and painting the approximately 8,000 m2 of steel structure will begin in mid-May 2018.
At the same time, 489 polycarbonate skylights and approximately 1,200 m2 of polycarbonate rainscreens will be replaced. The entire roof will also be renovated, with the current roofing being repaired and the existing gutters fitted with new polyester. The total value for this contract is €2.25 million excl. btw.
Completion of the work is scheduled for May 2019. During construction, the station will continue to operate as usual. The stores and catering establishments present will remain easily accessible.
Van der Ende Steel Protectors Group has acquired a substantial market share when it comes to station maintenance. In addition to this assignment, we are currently working on the major maintenance of Amsterdam Central Station and Tilburg Station on behalf of ProRail.
