The major maintenance of the wheel excavator Kombi 4 at EMO is finished! It was a challenging project especially in terms of time frame, safety, cooperation and weather conditions. As many as nine contractors were working simultaneously, day and night. An enormous amount of energy was put into getting everyone to work together safely.
Safety essential
Safety is always paramount and central to projects at Van der Ende. But now extra. Because so many people were involved in the major maintenance of the impressive wheel excavator, safety was so essential that EMO linked a Contractor Safety Award to the project. All contractors were judged on:
- HSE plans
- Workplace inspections by supervisors and management
- Reports from the field
- Timeliness of documentation
All scores were reported weekly so performance remained transparent. After a promising start, Van der Ende remained in the lead. The results were good: One person spent a day at home because of sharps in the eye. Otherwise, no one sustained any injuries. A true achievement considering the number of employees.
We performed well during our first assignment at EMO. Therefore, we are quite a bit extra proud to have received EMO’s Contractor Safety Award and Statement of Good Performance. Thank you all very much for the safe, very pleasant cooperation!
