After a difficult start, the momentum is well underway. In the first year there was a backlog of almost four months. Through very hard work, Van der Ende employees managed to deliver the complete work as now planned in June 2006. That is a year and a half earlier than originally assumed.
We are proud of the hard-working painters: painting 40,000 m² of steel structure with rivets by brush with a three-layer epoxy paint system is a huge job.
In 2006, the bridge section above the river will be painted. This will require drastic traffic measures. The underpass will be closed to all shipping traffic for each span to eliminate collision risk with the mobile paint truck. More photos of the work above water will follow in April.
