Extending tank bottom life
At BP Refinery Rotterdam, Van der Ende treated a corroded tank bottom with an innovative chopped fiber coating, extending its life by 10 years. This technique saves time and costs compared to complete replacement. In just 6 weeks, the tank was made operational again, a significant gain over a replacement process that would take at least six months. A smart and sustainable solution for the industry!

With this reliable and efficient solution for heavily corroded tank bottoms, which are normally replaced with new tank bottoms, the safe service life of the tank can be extended for at least 10 years in a short period of time.
Replacing a bottom is a costly and time-consuming process. Time that takes away from the operational availability of the storage tank.
Lead time only 6 weeks
In less than 6 weeks, the tank at BP has been upgraded from off-line to on-line again for at least 10 years of non-stop operation. Replacement of the tank bottom would certainly have involved an off-line situation for a period of six months. Costly time where no money is made.
BP made this strategic choice at a time when cost savings are a choice.
A second tank bottom will follow in February 2012.
