Technique torbo blasting

Torbo blasting, an advanced form of moisture blasting, combines the power of compressed air with a mixture of water and abrasive media with all the benefits of wet blasting and more. Unlike wet blasting, water is not added to the air stream, but is mixed with the abrasive beforehand, which is then fed into an air stream afterwards.

Torbo blasting offers an ATEX certified work environment

Torbo blasting has been certified by us to be applied to live equipment within various ATEX zones. This technique was developed in Germany and is known for its gentler but effective approach. It significantly reduces the risk of damage to sensitive surfaces and consumes less abrasive than regular blasting techniques.
Torbo blasting is used for a variety of applications; from removing rust, paint and graffiti to cleaning facades and monuments. Van der Ende applies this technique mainly to live equipment, which means that many objects within ATEX zones do not have to be taken out of service for a thorough and high-quality paint job.
Torbo blasting is therefore of great value to companies that need maintenance within explosion zones, as it allows a lot of work to be realized outside the critical path of turn-arounds and without having to take large-scale shielding measures.

Accuracy on any type of surface

Van der Ende offers specialized Torbo blasting services. We are specialists because of our modern equipment and experienced professionals. Our Torbo grit blasting equipment is ideal for cleaning large surfaces such as storage tanks, CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) projects, structures and piping in factories, CUC (Corrosion Under Concrete) within explosion zones. With infinitely adjustable blast pressure and the ability to use a wide range of abrasives, we can precisely tailor the treatment to each type of surface and contamination.

Reduced dust formation and more environmentally friendly

Our Torbo blast pots ensure that the abrasive in the boiler is mixed with water. This leads to a significant reduction in dust formation of up to 95%. This allows us to work quickly and safely, especially in conditions where dust or sparks are a risk. In addition, this system is more environmentally friendly; the consumption of abrasive is up to 60% lower than with traditional methods, resulting in less waste and lower consumption of raw materials.

Advantages turbo blasting

1

ATEX certified

Certified to apply to live equipment within various ATEX zones. Torbo blasting is known for its gentler but effective approach. It significantly reduces the risk of damage to sensitive surfaces. To achieve this, the production capacity is, however, lower than alternatives such as dry and wet blasting.
2

Low dust and safe

Torbo blasting reduces dust generation by more than 95%, providing a safer work environment and less disruption to nearby activities.
3

Environmentally friendly

The system uses less water and abrasive, resulting in less waste and less use of resources
4

Flexibility

The blast pressure and choice of abrasive can be precisely tailored to the requirements of the project. This makes the system suitable for a wide range of surfaces, from steel to natural stone.
