ETT-2 project delivered
The last of the 8 new tanks at the Europoort Tank Terminals site was delivered at the end of October. Over a total of 8 months, coating was applied to over 42,500 square metres externally and 17,500 square metres internally.
Because of the high chloride content of the new steel, the inside of the tanks had to be pre-blasted and then fogged with demi-water before it could finally be blasted to Sa 2.5. This was followed by the application of tank coating suitable for the use of biodiesel.
Because of the use of extra manpower and equipment the extra work and the short deadline were no real problem, so that the project was delivered well within the scheduled time. The terminal is now ready for the storage of (bio) fuels and heating oil.
