Last September, we started with the pillar maintenance: the protection of 65 pillars of the Oosterscheldekering (Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier). The pillars are an essential part of the Oosterscheldekering. The 65 pillars on the barrier provide actual control of the sluice gates.

Unique construction especially for pillar maintenance
In order to be able to work irrespective of the weather, the OSK Conserveringsgroep has designed a brilliant shielding construction. This unique construction is used over and over for each pillar. Moving the construction from pillar to pillar takes about four working days. We have the pillar maintenance contract until 2035.
