NS Amstel Station

In March 2002, we started work preserving the NS Amstel Station in Amsterdam on behalf of NS Rail Infra Beheer B.V. The work will be carried out whilst the passengers, trains and metro trains carry on as usual. For the NS, it is very important that the disturbance for the passengers and the trains remains limited to an absolute minimum.

This was taken into full consideration when drawing up the plan of approach. For example, scaffolding was erected in such a way that trains and metro trains could continue without disruption. The travellers were not forgotten either. Parts of the platforms will be closed off in turn, making sure there is enough space for getting in and out of the train or metro.

Since it is sometimes difficult to reach certain areas without causing danger for trains, metro trains and our employees, work is carried out above the railway line during times when no trains were running.. Over a period of nine months, a total of  23,093 m2  of wood and steel will be pretreated and painted. In the photograph above, you can clearly see the size of the project.
