We were commissioned to carry out the major maintenance to a Wheel digger 4 of EMO (European Mass goods – Trans-shipment Company) Maasvlakte. The Wheel digger 4 is a gigantic machine.

The maintenance starts with placing the machine on scaffolding, to ensure it is closed off from the environment and safe accessibility is guaranteed. The pre-treatment by grit blasting is then started. A new 4 coats paint system is then applied.

We have little time and that makes this project particularly challenging. The machine is an important production tool for EMO, so stopping it costs money. After thoroughly preparing we established: it is possible to complete the total maintenance process in an extremely short period of approximately six weeks. We start work again in mid August.
